UWPRC Community Partner Southwestern Wisconsin Community Action Program (SWCAP) was approved by the U.S. State Department to resettle Afghan refugees in southwestern Wisconsin. SWCAP will be the lead agency and will work under the oversight of Church World Service and the State of Wisconsin Refugee Resettlement Director. Their initial efforts will be in the City of Platteville with the hope of expanding to other southwestern Wisconsin communities.
SWCAP is one of a core group of agencies in southwestern Wisconsin working on resettlement including the Southwestern Wisconsin Workforce Development Board, the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, the University of Wisconsin Platteville, the Southwestern Wisconsin Technical College and the Tristate Islamic Center in Dubuque. Several other organizations will also be adding their support.
