UWPRC partner, Southwestern Wisconsin Community Action Program (SWCAP), recently closed on funding for The Meadows, a 32-unit, $8 million dollar rental housing building for low income farm workers and their families in Darlington, Wisconsin.

Construction should start soon. For many of the mostly Spanish-speaking families this will be the first opportunity to have decent and affordable housing. Many thanks to our partners Cinnaire, WHEDA, the Wis. Dept. of Administration, USDA Rural Development and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago. – Wally Orzechowski

SWCAP’s next project is to obtain funding for a combination Head Start/free clinic/WIC site on land next to The Meadows development.
