The University of Wisconsin-Madison Prevention Research Center is Recruiting Community Advisory Board Family Circle Recruitment

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Prevention Research Center (UWPRC) is looking for people throughout Wisconsin to join the UWPRC Community Advisory Board (CAB) as Family Circle members to advise community-engaged maternal and child health research.

Who are we looking for? 

4-5 people most impacted by disparities (e.g. people of color and other marginalized populations) with any of the following lived experiences: 

  • Having high stress during pregnancy or postpartum 
  • Having a difficult or high-risk pregnancy 
  • Having hypertension (i.e. high blood pressure) or pre-eclampsia during pregnancy or postpartum 
  • Giving birth or parenting while incarcerated or justice-involved 
  • Using pregnancy or parenting services (e.g. Home Visiting) 
  • Raising an infant or preschool/school aged child(ren) 
  • Receiving assistance with housing, food or child care 
  • Using health insurance through Badger Care or W2 
  • Providing community-based care 

What do Family Circle Members do? 

  • Talk about what matters most to individuals and families in your community 
  • Advise on what problems we should focus on in our research/work  
  • Provide input on how our research/work can be used by the community 
  • Review proposals for our Small Grants Program 

What is the time commitment? 

Meetings for Family Circle members will be held every other month. We ask members to commit to the CAB for at least 2 years. Most CAB meetings will be virtual. 

Will Family Circle members be paid? 

Yes! Each Family Circle member will be paid a stipend ranging from $50 to $100 dollars per meeting attended.
