WI DHS Maternal Mortality Review Team Recruiting New Members Through January 31

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services Maternal Mortality Review Team (MMRT) is now accepting applications through January 31, 2024 to add 3-4 members to the 2024 MMRT. The MMRT is a multi-disciplinary group of professionals that reviews case-level information about deaths of Wisconsin residents that occur during pregnancy or within one year of the end of pregnancy. The purpose of these surveillance activities is to identify and review maternal deaths and develop recommendations to prevent future deaths.

Members of the MMRT serve as volunteers, do not receive compensation for their participation, and are expected to commit to a year-long membership with the opportunity to recommit annually. The MMRT seeks professional, geographic, economic, gender, racial, and ethnic diversity, embracing a diverse member representation to focus on improving the quality of care for pregnant/postpartum people in the healthcare setting and social determinants of health.

The 2024 MMRT is looking for new members with experience in the following areas:

  • Substance use/addiction medicine
  • Emergency medicine
  • Rural health
  • Intimate partner violence/violence prevention
  • Child protective services/Department of Child & Family Services
  • Racism/discrimination experts
  • Tribal organizations
  • Law enforcement agencies
  • Community or family representative
