Since joining UW SMPH in 2015, Dr. Hoppe has seamlessly integrated her clinical practice, research, and leadership roles to drive innovation in maternal health. Her groundbreaking work includes the development of the Staying Healthy After Childbirth (STAC) Program, which utilizes remote patient monitoring for hypertension postpartum, which allow for earlier detection/treatment of increasing blood pressure and reducing hospital readmissions postpartum. Dr. Hoppe’s research has significantly impacted guidelines for managing hypertension during pregnancy and has garnered national recognition, including multiple awards and a prestigious grant to expand the care model. As a leader, she has been instrumental in enhancing research infrastructure, fostering interdisciplinary and community-healthcare collaborations, and mentoring the next generation of researchers. Her future goals include establishing a Clinical Research Center of Excellence and a CardioObstetric clinic to further advance maternal and cardiovascular health. She is very excited for the new Core Research project with the Prevention Research Center that will focus on conducting a dissemination and implementation research project that implements STAC through a community-engaged approach to improve hypertension control among Black women and birthing people during pregnancy and postpartum.
