Jane Mahoney, MD is the UWPRC Associate Director of Translation and Core Research Project Multiple Principal Investigator. She is a Professor in the Division of Geriatrics and Gerontology within the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She is nationally known for her dissemination and implementation research on the Stepping On falls prevention program, resulting in spread of that program (Stepping On) to 25 states. She is the Director of the UW Community-Academic Aging Resource Network, in which role she facilitates formation of research partnerships involving UW investigators and community-based social service agencies to improve the health of Wisconsin’s older adults. She is Associate Director for Implementation Science for the CTSA-funded UW Institute for Clinical & Translational Research (ICTR) – Community-Academic Partnerships (CAP) core. In this role, she has developed the Dissemination and Implementation Launchpad, which provides training and consultation for faculty and researchers in dissemination and implementation (D&I) science; and funding, business, and marketing resources to support translation of evidence into practice.
As the UWPRC Associate Director of Translation, she works with Dr. Sheri Johnson to provide consultation to investigators of UWPRC research projects regarding design for dissemination, navigation to implementation science and dissemination resources, and connections to translation, policy, and institutionalization stakeholders. She will also lead the Translation Partners Panel. As the Multiple Principal Investigator of the Core Research Project, she will work with Dr. Roseanne Clark on activities related to the Core Research Project. Dr. Mahoney will oversee the implementation science aspects, including implementation of all translation activities.
D. Paul Moberg, PhD is the UWPRC Associate Director of Evaluation. He is a Research Professor and Senior Scientist in the Department of Population Health Sciences and the Senior Faculty Advisor for the Evaluation Research Group within the UW Population Health Institute at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He previously also served as the Director of Evaluation for the UW’s Institute for Clinical Translational Research (CTSA), and as a Co-Investigator for the Evaluation and Surveillance Program of the Obesity Prevention Initiative. Dr. Moberg’s research, funded by grants from multiple sources including the CDC, NIDA, NIAAA and SAMHSA, has emphasized prevention program evaluation regarding behavioral health, maternal and child health, school health, and geriatric services. As the UWPRC Associate Director of Evaluation, Dr. Moberg oversees the collection and summarization of all evaluation materials for the Center.
Patrick Remington, MD, MPH is the UWPRC Associate Director of Training. He is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Population Health Sciences at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He is also the Director of the University of Wisconsin’s Preventive Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Remington’s is currently teaching prevention and public health courses to undergrads, public and population health students, medical students, and community members. His research focused on ways to enhance methods in public health surveillance and outcomes. As the UWPRC Associate Director of Training, Dr. Remington oversees activities to enhance prevention research and translation training opportunities for public health practitioners, students, community members, and organizational partners.
Susan Zahner, DrPH, RN, FAAN is a UWPRC Steering Committee Member. She is the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is the Director of the Wisconsin Public Health Research Network. Her research focuses on improving population health through enhanced performance of public health systems at local and community levels.
