Dr. Katherine Magnuson visits the UWPRC

Dr. Katherine Magnuson, the director of the Institute for Research on Poverty and Professor in the School of Social Work,  does research focusing on the well-being and development of economically disadvantaged children and their families. She examines how disparities in socioeconomic status (SES) affect children’s development, and how these effects may be altered by policies and programs, especially early childhood education programs. She also investigates how maternal education impacts child development. The UWPRC will be co-hosting Dr. Magnuson with the Department of Population Health Sciences on Monday, November 2nd. Dr. Magnuson will be giving a talk – Household Income and the Developing Brain: The Baby’s First Years Study – at the PHS Monday Seminar at 12PM.
