Distinguished Lecture Series featuring Lauren W. Yowelunh McLester-Davis (Oneida Nation)

The Native American Center for Health Professions (NACHP) is pleased to announce our next Distinguished Lecture Series featuring Lauren W. Yowelunh McLester-Davis (Oneida Nation). This lecture series is sponsored by the Indians into Medicine (INMED), Indian Health Service grant.

This lecture will highlight some of the ways sovereign Indigenous Nations in the United States can protect their members and data in scientific research, with examples from Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) research projects. An overview of ADRD in Indian Country, the history of Indigenous participation and design of ADRD research, current protections for Indigenous ADRD data including Tribal Institutional Review Boards and efforts at the National Institute on Aging and the Urban Indian Health Institute.
